Composite Design Engineer

As a Composite Design Engineer at MPC, you'll play a crucial role in transforming ideas into high-performance components capable of shaping the next generation of hypercars. Your expertise in advanced CAD modelling, developing detailed 3D models, plybooks, and tooling designs will be instrumental in turning visionary concepts into tangible innovations.

Responsibilities

- Lead 3D modelling of components, vehicle systems, tooling systems, and manufacturing aids, from ideation to production
- Craft and refine composite laminates, plybooks, structures, and comprehensive manufacturing documentation
- Create 2D drawings and specification documentation
- Collaborate with the Design Team, continuously enhancing our modelling techniques and best practices
- Engage with our global clientele, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project specifics
- Navigate design and operational challenges, innovating processes and technical solutions
- Guarantee timely project delivery, meeting technical requisites and overarching goals
- Stay updated with evolving business technical needs
- Present design concepts and updates to stakeholders, both internal and external
- Play an instrumental role in the growth and dynamism of MPC's Design department

 

Qualifications and Experience

- Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/ Engineering or a related field
- A seasoned engineer with a minimum of 5 years in a composites-centric role
- Mastery in CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE workbenches: Part Design, GSD, Assembly Design, 3D FT+A and Drafting
- Expert in surface modelling and design
- Profound understanding of composites, manufacturing techniques, and tooling strategies
- Familiarity with metals, plastics, and their manufacturing technologies
- Acquaintance with rapid prototyping techniques and materials
- In-depth knowledge of GD&T
- Autonomous, motivated, and well-organized
- Well organised and independent – able to work constructively with minimal supervision
- Stellar communication skills, with an ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams

 

Preferred

- Prior experience in automotive development programmes
- Exposure in manufacturing environment
- Proven experience in team leadership
